For our second part of our festive survival guide, we are looking at useful ways to look after mental health during this holiday.
There are tons of stresses that are put upon us during the festive season. Financial, family, personal, and a few of us end up with more time than usual to dwell on these. But there are ways to look after yourself during this season that work just as well as anything. Here are a few hints:

The key themes are look after yourself, mentally and physically. Don’t be afraid to ask for help with things that you have planned. Take time for you, even if it’s a cheeky bath with a book, or half an our on your computer (or even better, an episode of Star Trek!) As it is the holidays, there may be an excess of unhealthy food and drinks, but don’t be afraid to enjoy yourself in moderation.
Don’t be afraid to look for help in social groups, be the online or in the real world. Even if your Christmas is going great, don’t be afraid to say hi to others, even if it’s a quick PM or text message. I’ve known groups “shut down” for the festive season in the fictional sense, but you shouldn’t let interaction close for the winter. The Hawking will remain open for anyone who wants to interact.
I think the important thing is don’t be afraid to ask for help If its outside of your friends and family, then the UK Samaritans is a good place to start https://www.samaritans.org/
Next week, we’re going to take a look at security during the festive season.
