Trailers and Meet Ups, oh my!

So it’s been a busy weekend in the world of Trek Fandom. Without further ado, lets get into it:

PICARD

Yes indeed, another trailer has dropped. Showing the Picard registering scene that was previously shown as part of the “Up Fronts” Trailer, in April I believe/ Like the SDCC Trailer, there has been much debate and discussion about what happened, and I don’t want to engage in too much speculation either way in case I ruin things for myself or hype things up to the point where it doesn’t live up to the version of the show I created.

However, the big news, is that “early 2020” will specifically be the 23rd of January in the US and the 24th on territories watching on Amazon Prime. Something to look forward to as we make our way through the cold winter months.

SHORT TREKS

Well, I never thought I would see the day that a Star Trek short plays second fiddle to a Star Trek trailer, but here we are. Q and A tells the story of Spock’s first hours aboard the Enterprise. As before, the Short Treks are debuting on CBS All Access, with no word yet on a UK release. The previous Short Treks were added to the trailers section of Discovery on Netflix in the days before the start of Season 2.

Discovery Trailer

Speaking of Discovery, the weekend’s second Star Trek trailer dropped with our first official glimpse of season 3. As with the Picard Trailer I am not going to dwell on the content, however, the trailer appears to confirm many details that have been speculated on following the end of season 2 and the reset of the format. Smart money would be on an autumn 2020 release.

And finally…

For UK fans, and beyond the fan group SB24 have announced their intention to run a 14th banquet. Full disclosure I am a member of this group, if we can raise enough deposits by the end of 2019, then we will go ahead with the weekend, an annual chance to party with fellow trekkies, share in the love of Trek and generally nerd out in the name of fun and fundraising.

On the subject of fan events and meet ups, I would also like to remind people about the event and meet ups map on the Hawking. If you are running an event or meet up that other Star Trek fans are welcome to attend, please give me a shout. I will stick the event on our map.
